THE EAGLE SCOUT AWARD IN
THE SAM HOUSTON AREA COUNCIL
Since 1916 when the Sam Houston Area Council presented it’s first Eagle Badge to Palmer Melton, more than 20,000 Scouts have earned this prestigious award. Among the young men who have been recognized for earning this singular achievement are captains of industry, public servants, military commanders and community leaders and men whose contribution to society has been enormous.
This page lists the latest recipients of the Eagle Award each month.
These Scouts are numbered with all those who have gone before them and have taken the EAGLE PROMISE:
I reaffirm my allegiance
To the three Promises of the Scout Oath.
I thoughtfully recognize
And take upon myself
The obligations and responsibilities
Of an Eagle Scout.
On my honor I will do my best
To make my training and example,
My rank and my influence
Count strongly for better Scouting
And for better citizenship
In my troop,
In my community,
And in my contacts with other people.
To this I pledge my sacred honor.
One of the most rewarding duties of Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson is to send congratulatory letters to Eagle Scouts. As these outstanding young men are the future leaders of our country, the Senator wanted to share her address where requests for Eagle Scout congratulatory letters should be sent.
