62 Years of Camping

Grand Lake is home to our summer camp operation and weekend camping for Boy Scout Troops, Venture Crews, Urban Scouting, and other groups. 

Grand Lake has 21 primitive campsites, two activity areas, two major traning sites and a primitive camporee site.

There is a full service kitchen, 100 foot long swimming pool and 119 acre lake for all types of water activities.

Opportunities


Grand Lake Summer Camp offers a full schedule of merit badges as well as many outpost camps.

The Merit Badges offered at Grand Lake are as varied as the Scouts who come to camp, from ecology and conservation to water-skiing and motor boating we have it all.

Places like Fish Camp, Fox Fire, Huck Fin Raft offer opportunities to learn and test scouting skills.

This 2,288 acre property is located 2 miles south of Conroe on Interstate 45 in the Texas Piney Woods. Grand Lake has 21 troop sites and operates 8 weekly sessions during the summer. Grand Lake incorporates several specialty programs including sailing and water skiing into the summer sessions. Because of its close proximity to the Metropolitan area, Camp Strake is the world's most used Scout facility.

The address for Camp Strake is 11322 Interstate 45 South, Conroe, Texas 77304.

Going North on I-45 and after crossing the San Jacinto, take the "Camp Strake Road" exit. Continue North to the stop light, turn left under the freeway, and left again onto the southbound feeder. The Camp Strake entrance is about 200 yards South on the right.
