Summer Camp Scoutmaster Orientation will be held on Tuesday, May 11 beginning at 7 PM at the Cockrell Scout Center. This is an important meeting to get all of your summer camp questions answered and a chance to learn about what will happen at El Rancho Cima this summer. See you there.

Cockrell River Camp is located on the south end of El Rancho Cima just 2 miles from the main gate. The breath taking views are endless as you make your way down towards your campsite on the Blanco River. Each campsite has its own spectacular view of the river. The Blanco River provides unique swimming, canoeing, rowing, kayaking, and even tubing. On a hot summer’s day, relief is just steps away as you submerge yourself in the 68 degree year round Blanco River. CRC_Middle_Right

Ironwheel Mesa is partnered with Cockrell River Camp with all its programs.
The uniqueness of Ironwheel Mesa is that it is nestled high atop the Blanco
CRC_Bottom_LeftRiver on the Mesa. Scouts have a short walk down
the Mesa towards the program area which is a part of Cockrell River Camp. Ironwheel has its own dining hall and unique spectacular views.

The Council's Camping Committee is pleased to announce that Derek Spier will serve as the Camp Director in 2010. Derek is an experienced Scoutmaster of Troop 557 in the Texas Skies District. He retired as a Peace Officier and has started a second career as a school teacher. Derek brings to the camp a wealth of experience in summer camp operations, NYLT staff leadership and 21st Century Wood Badge staff.

New for 2009, “J.C. Walter Family Shooting Sports Complex” a state of the art
facility, located just below the dining hall. A new rifle range, shotgun range and archery range will provide any novice shooter a chance to learn and become an expert marksman and experienced shooters a new challenge.
