High Adventure rally
About 15 years ago, the annual High
Adventure Rally for the Sam Houston Area Council was started. The rally would
include a sign-up to attend Philmont, Sea Base, or Northern Tier Canoe Base for
the upcoming summer. Representatives
from the National BSA high adventure bases were on hand to answer questions.
Today, the High Adventure Rally is the most
instructional resource available to unit leaders who are beginning their search
for alternative venues to BSA national high adventure bases. High Adventure
Rally Presentation Units, having been selected through analysis of National
Tour Permits, represent the “All Star Team”.
The “All Star Team” is the best of the best
of the best units who have taken high adventure trips outside of the national
high adventure camps. These units are
available at the rally to explain to other scouts, scouters, and parents the
details of their respective trips including costs, travel plans, contacts, and
helpful hints. The High Adventure Rally showcases these units which have shown
the leadership and ability to build their own tailored high adventure program
for boys in their respective units.
The
High Adventure Rally is held annually in September sponsored by the Council’s
High Adventure Committee.
