Brahman District News a.k.a. “Shootin’ the Bull”
… and we’re back. For those of you that have keeping up with this District site we regret the 27 month delay. Here is the latest and greatest news from the Brahman District.
FALL CAMPOREE
134 Scouts and Leaders gathered the weekend of October 20-22 at the Kutac Ranch in Lavaca County for the Brahman District Camporee. A great time was had by all the Scouts building and firing catapults. Thanks to Mark Meysembourg, Wayne Lefferd, and all of the crew from Weimar for hosting a great event.
POPCORN SALE
The 2006 popcorn sale is now history and we thank the 16 units that participated and sold more than $55,000. This represents almost $17,000 in profits for these units combined, money that will be spent on program for the boys. Vincent Lutringer of Louise Troop 226 was the top salesman with $4,300 and East Bernard Pack 785 was the top selling unit at $12,100 in sales. John Bryant of Bay City Pack 4545 was drawn as the winner of the bicycle. Scouts were entered for each increment of $250 they sold. John won with his one shot for $308 in sales. Way to go John! Thanks again for all that helped make this year’s sale a success.
DAY CAMP
Brahman Day Camp 2007: CSI (Cub Scout Investigators) is just six months away. Now is the time to register the boys in your Pack for the fun. This year’s fee is $40 for the week and includes 2 t-shirts, a mug, a patch, and all the fun a Cub Scout can stand. Registration deadline is the April Roundtable. Don’t let this chance pass your Cubs by. Please contact Camp Director Crystal Elliott at (979) 248-6345 for more information.
FIRST AID MEET
The 2007 District First Aid Meet will be held Saturday, January 27 in Bay City. Please contact John Milliff at (979) 245-7893 for information or get it first hand at the District Roundtable.
ROUNDTABLE
As always, Brahman District Leader’s Roundtable is held on the Second Thursday of each month from 7:00 – 9:00 at the Northside Center in El Campo. The first three leaders to read this and tell Hoss, “The avocadoes crow at midnight” will be presented a fabulous prize. Hope to see you there on December 14. You can call Cub Commissioner Barbara Knudsen at (979) 543-1440 or Scout Commissioner John Hobbins for more details about our Roundtables.
SCOUT FAIR AD SALES
This is an easy way to put $ in you Unit’s account. Give Chairman, John Hasenpflug a call at (979) 5312-1301 to learn how. It’s easy and every unit should try to sell at least one ad that will be seen by tens of thousands. The Scout Fair will be held in Houston on Saturday, April 28th this year.
DISTRICT DINNER
Just an early reminder that the 2007 District Dinner will be held on February 8th 7:00 at Weimar Elementary School. This is always a fun evening of good cheer and fellowship. This year’s dinner fee will be $5.00 payable at the door. Come join the fun.
