SHAC Scout Fair 2008

 Super Salesman:

Our partner, the Grand Prix of Houston has authorized the production of a limited edition collectible “Super Salesman” patch for Scout Fair 2008. Your Scouts can earn this patch for selling their first 10 Scout Fair Value Pack. Your Scouts can earn additional prizes for selling Scout Fair Value Packs.  Unit Participation:

Show off your unit’s talents and skills, and earn recognitions and awards at Scout Fair.  Sign up now and showcase your special Scouting spirit at your very own unit’s scout fair booth! It’s easy to register your booth online at www.samhoustonbsa.org/scoutfair. Applications must be received no later than Monday, March 7, 2008. Applications received after March 7, 2008 will be assigned on a space available basis.

  

Yearbook Ad Sales:

Just as selling Scout Fair Packets involves Scouts in earning money for your Unit, Yearbook Ad Sales can involve your Unit’s committee and parents in generating more money.  Your unit will receive a 25% commission for each Yearbook Ad is sells. Right now is the time to begin selling Yearbook Ads. All advertising copy and contracts must be in the Cockrell Scout Center by March 7, 2009. Roundtable

All Leaders are invited to attend this monthly training session where you can learn many great and exciting things like Pack Meeting Themes, Den Meeting Ideas, Craft Ideas, Skits, Songs, etc… Come take advantage of this great opportunity to receive the tools necessary to have a quality program for your Scouts!

 

Roundtable is the second Thursday of every month at 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at the Faith West Academy located at 2225 Porter Rd., Katy, TX 77493.  Come join in on the fun-filled activities that take place every month. Don't miss out on the latest and greatest ideas from some of the best Roundtable Staff in the country! We hope to see you there!

District Pinewood Derby

             Who: Top 3 cars from each Rank (Tigers, Wolf, Bears, Web 1, Web 2) from each TSD pack.

             When: Races are on Saturday, 4/12, 10 am

             Where: Cinco Ranch HS, Commom Area, main entry, 23440 Cinco Ranch Blvd

             Registration (by pack): Online from 3/1 thru 4/10, www.texasskiesdistrict.org

             Late Registration (by individual): Friday, 4/11/08, 6-8pm, Cinco Ranch HS, Saturday, April 12th, 8-9:45 am, Cinco Ranch HS

             Cost: $5 per car, Pack checks must be mailed prior to 4/5, otherwise payments must be turned  in Saturday morning. $8 per car at Late Registration

             Weigh-In: Friday, 4/11/08, 6-8PM, Cinco Ranch HS, Saturday, 4/12/08, 8-9:45am, Cinco Ranch HS

District Camporee

Special thanks to Frank Aranza for a tremendous camporee!!Thanks also to all of the staff. You all make a great difference in the lives of our youth!

 

 

 

Webelos Woods

Special thanks to Layne Scholl and Kim Stanfield for all that they did to make the first-ever Texas Skies District Webelos Woods a major success!! Also thanks to everyone who participated. We had a great time, great camping and learning, and great fellowship. See you next year!

 

District Dinner

Congratulations to all of our leaders honored at the District Dinner. The 2007 District Award of Merit Recipients were Donna Coselli, Ray Farrell, and Paul Hatterman. The Robert Root Commissioner Service Award recipient was Stan Stanley. The District Family of the Year Award was presented to The Layne Scholl Family- Kim, Layne, Nathan, Elizabeth, and Sarah. The Chartered Partner of the Year was awarded to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Katy, Texas Stake. Hats off to Elizabeth Scherer for all you did in organizing and executing a fantastic recognition dinner! Special thanks to Lori Powell for all of your help with the Awards.
