12th Annual Sporting Clays Event
Is Scheduled for
Thursday, April 24th, 2008
On Thursday, April 24th, 2008 over 300 shooters will gather at the Rio Brazos Hunting Preserve in Simonton, Texas for this annual event. It will be a great day of fun and fellowship. Chairman John Crafton has announced that for the first time we will be holding the event in one (1) Flight and will be shooting 100 birds (targets) of Sporting Clays. There will also be shooting games, displays from over 10 different vendors, silent and live auctions, a light lunch, dinner and much more.
The object of Sporting Clays is to simulate real life hunting situations. The shooter will go from station to station shooting at clay targets (birds) thrown to imitate the action of various types of wild game.
The 2007 event was under the leadership of Chairman Harold F. Christmann, Jr. and he reports that it raised over $115,000 to benefit the At-Risk Scouting Programs for the Sam Houston Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.
Each year the James A. Baker, III Cup is presented to the top shooter at the event. The 2007 James A. Baker, III Cup was presented to Rob Abbott.
Mark your calendar today for a day of fun, fellowship and friendly competition.
