Weekend Camping at Camp Brosig

Camp Brosig is a 92-acre property located four miles north of Sealy, TX in Austin County. Brosig has 20 campsites, pavilions, restrooms and a few showers available for weekend camping. Ranger or campmaster support may not be available at this camp. Troops, crews, ships, packs, and Webelos dens can camp at Camp Brosig.

What are the directions to Camp Brosig?

From Houston: Take I-10 to Sealy Texas, exit at State Highway 36 this is a hairpin loop exit. You pass over highway 36 on I-10 before you exit so you come into Hwy 36 from the west. From the first red light after exiting at Highway 36 turn left (north) onto Highway 36. Go thru town approximately 5.1 miles until you pass the intersection of Farm Road 331. Christian City Church is on the left, soon after is Trenchman Road on the left. Go 1.6 miles on Trenchman Road to Camp Brosig. The camp gate is on the left (south) side of the road. Main asphalt road will take you to the check-in building, the first building on your left. Approximate time from Houston 1 hour.

From Hempstead/Bellville: Take FM 159 from Hempstead to Bellville. After crossing the railroad tracks in Bellville take an immediate left at the first light on to State Highway 36 continue for approximately 6 miles to Farm Road 949. Turn right onto Farm Road 949 and follow this road to the first road to the left. This will be Trenchman Road and the camp gate entrance will be approximately ½ mile on your right. The camp gate is on the right (south) side of road. Main asphalt road will take you to the check-in building, the first building on your left.   Approximate time from Hempstead 30 minutes.

Weekend Camping at Tellepsen Scout Camp
Scouts BSA/Venturing/Sea Scout Camping

Tellepsen Scout Camp is located at Bovay Scout Ranch (3450 County Road 317, Navasota, TX 77868) and has eight campsites that accommodate 50 individuals per site. Each campsite has a 30' x 40' pavilion with electricity. One shower and restroom facility will be available for every two campsites. Tellepsen Scout Camp has the council's largest rifle range and a 41-foot climbing tower. The rifle range consists of four 50-yard high-powered rifle stations, four 100-yard high-powered rifle stations, a five-stand shotgun range, eight shooting stations for .22 rifles and pistols and an archery range. The climbing tower has two rappelling stations per side of 11 feet, 22 feet, 32 feet, and 41 feet. Districts can reserve the Duke Energy Camporee site or Tellepsen Scout Camp for district events through the district professional.

Tellepsen Scout Ranch Reservations

Campsites are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. All program area and camping fees must be paid in advance to the Sam Houston Area Council office. In-council camper fee is $2.00 per weekend per person, out-of-council camper fee is $3.00 per weekend per person. If Tellepsen is full, troops and crews are allowed to camp at Bovay Scout Ranch.

Directions through Conroe:  From Conroe, take Hwy 105 West for 45 miles. Turn left onto Highway 6 for three miles. Turn left onto County Road 317 (just past Grassy Creek).  Travel to end of the road through camp gate.

Weekend Camping at Camp Strake
Scouts BSA/Venturing/Sea Scout Camping

Camp Strake, a first-class and state-of-the-art facility, is located Hines Lake Rd, Coldspring, TX 77331. Camp Strake has 20 campsites with pavilions, shooting ranges (rifle, shotgun, archery), a 28-acre lake, aquatics center with a swimming pool and pool house, extensive trail system, basketball court, zip lines, climbing tower, sports fields, chapel and more.

Camp Strake is located on 2,816 acres between New Waverly and Coldspring near the community of Evergreen, Tx. Lake Livingston is 10 miles east of the property. The camp is a 1.5-hour drive from downtown Houston and close to I-45 and the Grand Parkway. Camp Strake is surrounded on three sides by the Sam Houston National Forest and has the Lone Star Hiking Trail close to one corner of the property.
